Journaling: Life in fandom goes through ups and downs. Reminisce about the "wild ride" of your time in fandom or in other online communities.
I feel like there truly was nothing like the 2023 Deduction Star voting in the Identity V community and the complete fallout it caused when the Chinese server voted for Night Watch, a character that, at that point in time, was out for not even a whole month at the time of voting, making him the character who waited the least for his Deduction Star skin. This caused an uproar in the global server fanbase (mainly in the west) being upset "an ugly man" won over "pretty women" (we won't talk about people's inability to realize male characters dominate fandom stuff in the east, including fan voting and merch overall while whales (usually men) will spend money on the very expensive essence skins that are limited and usually something they're looking for when it comes to characters over irl merch).
In general, fan voting for which character will get the skin that happens once a year is sometimes hilarious depending on where you're watching (by that I mean not watching what global players are doing). This year, Chinese fans collectively decided to vote for Nightmare because they knew he doesn't get a lot of skins as he's not that popular of a character and Lawyer, who got voted because of his stage actor, as he was interacting a lot with fans and was very sweet, so they wanted to make him happy by voting for his character.
